Ride "History": 2013 Mission to Mission Charity Bike Tour
The good, the bad, and the ugly!
The Bad and Ugly
The elements forced the cancellation of the 2014 Mission to Mission Charity Bike Tour. With freezing temperatures and precipitation forecast for ride time, the Ride Captain wisely, but reluctantly cancelled the 16th edition of the Mission to Mission Tour. Paramount in the decision was the prediction for ice and freezing rain on roadways in and around San Antonio including the tour routes.
The Good
Only two registered riders failed to get the cancellation notice. Their arrival at Mission Park Pavillions was intercepted by a "cool" greeting party of Dick Davis and Kyle and Richard Contreras. Ride time weather at Mission Park Pavilions - (31 degrees F; winds from the north; wind chill 25 degrees F)
More Good
Thanks to the generous donation of 2013 sponsors and riders, these neighborhood charities were granted requested funds for small, but essential projects: Alamo Council of the Blind, Herbal Medics, Los Compadres (Friends of the Missions), Ready,Willing..Enable, Seton Home, Titanium Rib Foundation, Volunteer Services Council For The San Antonio State Supported Living Center, Texas Parent to Parent, San Antonio Youth Literacy
