The 14th annual Mission Tour began with the threat of thunderstorms and a sullen sky. Smiles replaced frowns as three hundred plus riders challenged the threatening weather and river reach construction detours to complete routes of 50, 30, and 15 miles. Starting ceremonies highlighted the Buffalo Soldier's bugler, presentation of the colors, and Star Wars' characters of The Rebel Legion. Family riders visited the three Spanish Colonial Missions along the trails of the Padres retracing 300 year old routes. While biking was the day's focus, participants donated riders' fees to eight charities serving San Antonio neighborhoods. Loyal sponsors added support to M2M with cash donations to the charities as well as a long list of prizes and supplies for participants. On-site riders add donations of food to the SA Food Bank. |
